Hello!

My name is Aarathi. I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and IFS trained therapist based in India. I live in the coastal town of Mangalore, Karnataka and provide my services to Indians and South Asians across the globe.

With over six years of academic training and more than a decade of experience in various settings — including schools, government hospitals, and corporate sectors — I bring specialised expertise in trauma to my work. I hold a culturally sensitive, compassionate, and Self-led space during sessions, viewing therapy as a collaborative effort between the therapist and the client.

Mental health concerns are not issues to be fixed; they are invitations to deepen your connection with yourself. I believe that gaps in connection with the Self lead to mental health challenges. As a therapist, my role is to guide you on your journey to reconnect with your parts — those aspects of yourself that hold emotions, concerns, sensations, and memories — so you can move towards being Self-led.

I deeply believe in and draw inspiration from Eastern spiritual practices, incorporating breathwork (pranayama), body awareness (asanas), and meditation into my personal self-care and work. Indian spiritual traditions emphasise the presence of the Self and its connection to Universal Consciousness. I was thrilled to find an evidence-based approach for trauma — Internal Family Systems (IFS) — that aligns with these beliefs. In fact, the concept of Self in IFS is derived from the Eastern beliefs of Atman in Hinduism and Rigpa in Buddhism, respectively. By integrating IFS with spiritual insights into therapy, I aim to help you not only heal and integrate your parts but also connect with a sense of Universal wholeness.

Moving towards being Self-led

As a therapist who primarily follows the IFS approach, I believe we all have a Self that is naturally curious, courageous, and compassionate. The Self is the core of who we are, the principle within us that remains whole and intact, even when life's changes cause us to feel fragmented. Even though the Self can't be damaged, it can become clouded and dominated by "parts" that hold certain beliefs formed from learning and experiences, leading us to feel anxious, overwhelmed, sad, or depressed.

During our therapy sessions, I hold a compassionate and Self-led space, and together we work to create a dialogue with your parts, allowing them to feel heard and understood, which ultimately leads to healing and integration. The goal of IFS is to help parts release the burdens they carry, improve the relationships between parts in the system, and allow the Self to lead.

In my work, your safety and wellbeing is my priority, and I also rely on your feedback, especially when something in the session doesn't feel safe to you. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I invite you to communicate openly throughout our work together. If something doesn’t feel right, or if you experience resistance within your system, I am here to listen and work through our approach accordingly.

If you're ready to begin this journey of connecting with your parts, healing, and leading from Self, I’m here to walk alongside you. Let’s connect and explore this path together.

More About Me

Apart from my professional role as a therapist, spirituality is an elemental part of my lifestyle and routine. My day begins with meditation and yoga, two activities I truly revel in, and winds down with relishing the sunset, journaling, and reading a book. I also love nurturing my plants. Caring for them and admiring the beautiful details in their growth is a nourishing pastime for my own well-being.  I’m a proud cat mom. I’ve adopted two boys over the past three years, and they are my babies! They bring so much love, play, and comfort into my life. Though they do leave me with the occasional bruises and scratches. As a human, I experience big and small emotions too. I’m curious about them because they teach me so much. And I embrace them because they’re a part of me.
